Cost Effective Fertility Treatment, India

The joy of becoming a parent is priceless but when it comes to finding the right ivf doctor or fertility physician, offering cost effective ivf treatment or affordable ivf treatment then the chances that you will very few ivf doctors to choose from.

While fertility doctor’s expertise and ivf clinic success rates, reputation and location will most likely be the criteria you use to choose an infertility clinic, cost may also be a very important factor. Since ivf or fertility clinics are not covered by insurance, the patient has to pay “out-of-pocket,” often leading to increased stress as well as long-term financial burdens.

Fertility drugs are expensive

The Fertility drugs such as clomiphene and gonadotropins, regulate your reproductive hormones and trigger the release of one or more of your eggs per ovulation cycle. Most women use them for 3 to 6 months before conceiving or trying a different kind of treatment.

Side effects: Clomiphene can cause headaches, visual symptoms, hot flashes, and cramping, bloating, and vaginal dryness. Gonadotropins can cause soreness, bloating, and rashes. Both can increase your odds of having twins or more.

Cost: Clomiphene pills cost at least around Rs 1500 – Rs 2500 a month (not including the cost of doctors’ visits, ultrasounds of your ovaries, or follow–up procedures such as artificial insemination).

Gonadotropin injections cost Rs 50,000 to Rs 2, 00,000 a month (including doctors’ visits and tests).

Couples seeking ART or IVF treatment should choose their ivf physician or ivf doctor carefully and weigh a number of factors. If cost is a factor in your decision making, ask the clinic for a detailed list of ivf procedures and corresponding costs, and follow up with these questions:

Are medications, tests, lab work and consultations included in the cost of ivf treatment?

Does the ivf clinic provide financial counseling and psychological counseling during fertility treatment?

If so, are there fees for these services?

Since patients do not have insurance coverage for infertility treatment, knowing the costs up front makes good financial sense.
